    Moin,
was soll uns dieses Video zeigen?

(Please reply in German if you want, I understand it well, but my writing is not that good :)

I remember from my time in Germany 3-4 years ago how low the level of refereeing was. Usually the referees were either old and not fit enough, or young and inexperienced. Often, this led to very poor "Spielleitung". Before coming to Germany I thought Oberliga would be boring leagues with only a few spectators, but I was blown away when I saw that there were at least 2-300 spectators in every game.

These days I enjoy looking up Oberliga videos on Youtube. I am shocked by a lot of the refereeing I see. But yesterday, I found this clip. I am terrified to see such referees who have no control of the match and are unable to protect the players, but also make basic decisions. Take a look yourself, what do you think about these referees and Oberliga referees in general?

Don't think age is an issue here. Not sure what other motivation they can have for accepting a bribe, Azerbaijan had become quite wealty from oil and these two guys surely don't want to ruin Azerbaijani handball. They also got another referee couple who is much better, Aghakishi/Aghakishi (related to Aghakishiyev?), they are young and maybe we will see them in the Champions League soon. If Aliyev/Aghakishiyev is caught for bribery they would surely ruin their career.

And no, I can't remember that match (probably too young)

(Sie können in Deutsch antworten, ich verstehe es, aber ich schreib es nicht zu gut.)

I don't think the referees were bribed, but I agree that this is one of the worst referee performances I have ever seen.

There are lots of other reasons for why things went so wrong. A big part of it can be that making decisions against home teams with angry fans will put more pressure on you. These referees are used to refereeing games in Azerbaijan with a few hundred spectators at most and are not used to such pressure.

They do not pay close enough attention to late tackles. Most of the tackles in the clip except the last one happen after the players have released the ball. The good refs see these tackles.

Last, and a little more serious is Nachevski's role. Aliyev/Aghakishiyev might have felt that as Nachevski is Macedonian, he could get a better impression if they were not against Zomimak, and this could help them get better matches in the future.
