    You could hardly identify the Croatians in their third match against Tunisia (32-26; 16-11). After their clear defeat to Denmark all players both on the court and on the bench fully motivated played a quite flexible 6-0 defence from the very beginning conceding the first goal on 13 minute only.

    Left-back Blazevic (8 goals/11 attempts), who is also playing on the inside defender position as part of the 6-0 defence, came off as the top scorer again, his team in this manner having every possibility of progressing to the semi-finals. In the run of the second half, Tunisia could handle better the 6-0 block defence and showed good crossing movements in attack. Back Mrabet (11 goals / 17 attempts) became best scorer of the team still presented with the opportunity for progress.

    As expected, Serbia-Montenegro crushed Morocco to make through to the semi-finals too. Tomorrow’s final group match against Korea – decisive match for the top rank in this group – should be of special appeal since it gathers two quite different game philosophies.

    Men's Youth World Championship in QAT - Korea advances to semi-finals

    In the decisive match Korea struggled hart but finally overcame host Qatar by 35:32 (15-13) to book its place in the semi-finals of the first Youth WC 2005. In the opening stage, Qatar was tactically well prepared for the Koreans’ quite offensively acting 3-3 defence. Left-back Alhajri (8 goals / 14 attempts) – one of the tournament’s best scorers so far – and centre-back Albaloushi (8/11) played successful one-on-one actions again and again. Yet, they were not able to keep up to the Koreans high pace until the very end of the match.

    It should be very tricky for a number of teams to launch concentrated and concerted attacks against a defence that aggressive 60 minutes long. Korea’s top scorer playing both on the centre-back position in attack and the offensive front centre-defender in defence – scored 10 goals again to prove his top scorer position. Fast in man-on-man actions, during counter-attacks and in particular in jumps shots from the back make up Korea’s typical game philosophy all players are performing. It should be of special interest in the forthcoming matches to see how the Koreans with their fast-paced play and their aggressive defence could stand up to the European top teams.

    In group B Denmark is still eying the semi-finals. When they met Iran, they had some difficulties of concentration in offense only in the first 20 minutes. But then, the Danes’ 6-0 defence that proved very well again formed the basis for consequent counter-attacks. One third of Denmark’s total score resulted from fast-paced play. Another striking feature is that all three (!) goalkeepers that were put in have shown excellent performances by now.

    Their win against Tunisia made Egypt still keep their chance alive to make through to the semi-finals (33-26; 16:14). Nevertheless they are confronting Denmark on the last matchday that are one of the favourites due to their previous performances.

    2005 Men's Youth World Championship in Qatar - Danes as the favourites now

    Nobody had expected a result as clear as in the clash of match day three between Denmark and Croatia (38-23; 22-11). Fully concentrated already during the warm-up before the start of the match, Denmark presented the tournament’s best 6:0-defence and did not fail to set the course. Passing from 6-1, 11-2 (on 11 minute) to 15-5 after 20 minutes, the die was almost cast already. Denmark was superior to the young hopefuls of the Athens Olympic champion in every respect. The ball-based defence intercepted passes again and again turning them immediately into successful fast-breaks.

    Time and again the Danes played well concerted actions in offense to break both the 3-2-1-defence and the 4-0-plus-2-defence in the second half. Left-back Hansen (7 goals out of 9 attempts) and right-back Christiansen (8/12) were most successful scorers of Denmark who showed a cohesive team performance. In contrast to that, the Croatian side disappointed nearly surrendering in the first half already. Numerous experts now see Denmark as the favourite to take home the first WC title in the men’s youth category.

    Quite a long time host Qatar managed to keep the second match against Serbia-Montenegro (25-28;11-15) open. Early in the second half, they were behind by only 2 goals (14-16). In particular individual one-on-one actions by the Qatari back-court players and the second goalkeeper‘s (Dimeh) outstanding performance in the second half made them keep up quite well with reiging European Champion Serbia-Montenegro. An even more improved defence may keep Qatar’s chances high to gain a place in the semi-finals.

    2005 Men's Youth World Championship in Qatar - A "new Balic" is growing up

    The best match of day 2 in the Youth WC in Qatar saw Egypt, in particular, improve their performance in defence compared with yesterday. Being behind by 3 or even 4 goals the team managed to catch up again three times. On 53 minute, Egypt even took the lead 27:26, in the very end, however, the Egyptians failed to the very effective 6-0 defence block in the second half. This may also be concluded from both teams’ shot effectiveness (EGY: 29/61= 48%; CRO: 30/50= 60%).

    The Croatian play is quite an imitation of the successful senior team’s style in recent years. Mate Svalina acting on the centre position is a play maker who is opening plenty of tactical offensive actions as Balic is doing in the men’s national team. His movements in one-on-one actions as well as his effective assists to his teammates seem to be a “copy” of world-class player Balic’s tactics - a good example for a constant philosophy of the game in Croatian handball.

    eins kann ich bald nicht mehr hören. je nach zeitpunkt eines spiels / wettkampfs kommt die allzeit bereite "erklärung" unser stand in der vorbereitung ist halt anders als der von xy.
    trier hat vor allem taktisch eine ganz schwache leistung abgeliefert - ähnlich wie in den spielen, die ich von ihnen in der letzten saison gesehen habe. wenn ein innenblock bohm / althaus ein dutzend mal übergabe/übernahme nicht geregelt kriegt und keine taktische änderung / verbesserung erkennbar ist, hat das für mich nichts mit müdigkeit oder sonstwelchen dingen zu tun. wenn trier jeden zweiten gegenstoß im chaos absagt, weil vier spielerinnen im angriffsraum zwischen den pfosten rumstehen und zwei noch gar nicht am angriff teilnehmen, dann kann das nichts mit dem stand der vorbereitung zu tun haben. trier ist schlecht organisiert. da haben nürnberg und leverkusen deutliche vorteile. ganz zu schweigen von viborg, die mit einer sauberen, schnellen und ballorientierten abwehr-arbeit jedem deutschen team deutlich die grenzen aufgezeigt haben.

    leipzig war zumidest eine halbzeit in der lage, mit den däninnen mitzuhalten. alledings ist nach der ersten reihe (stange - reiche - wörz - soerli-lybekk - fruelund - thorsen) keine spielerin in der lage, den offenbar von fruelund-albertsen gewünschten tempo-handball zu spielen. und auch die drei hier erstgenannten haben da schon ihre schwierigkeiten. ein absoluter fremdkörper im spiel ist danilovic. dagegen scheint masson das tw-problem zu lösen. die hat mir gut gefallen, auch wenn sie manchmal 'zu schnell' (im gegenstoß-spiel) für einige ihrer mitspielerinnen war.

    leverkusten hat ein echtes 'vorbereitungs-turnier' gespielt, renate wolf hat hoffentlich gesehen, was sie sehen wollte. ansonsten wird leipzig der gegner des fcn werden. wenn die erste reihe des fcn weiter so perfekt funktioniert und albertsen seinen spielerinnen seine vorstellungen weiter vermittelt, ist da oben weder platz für trier noch für bayer. wenn uns renate wolf nicht gewaltig ausgetrickst hat....

    Viele Wechsel beim Test gegen Wetzlar

    HANDBALL. Die TSG Groß-Bieberau läutete den zweiten Teil der Vorbereitung mit einem Testspiel gegen Handball-Bundesligist HSG Wetzlar ein. Man merkte am Mittwochabend beiden Mannschaften an, dass nach der harten Konditionsarbeit der letzten Wochen die Beine schwer waren. Dennoch entwickelte sich nach der Pause ein ansehnliches Spiel vor 200 Zuschauern. Wobei die 26:35-Niederlage des gastgebenden Zweitligisten eine untergeordnete Rolle spielte. Trainer Thomas Göttmann probierte in Angriff und Abwehr unterschiedlichste Varianten.
    Auch Wetzlars neuer Coach Martin Schwalb setzte seinen gesamten Kader ein. Schwalb nörgelte jedoch einige Male über das Abwehrverhalten seiner Mannen. Der Besuch des Bundesligisten war ein Dankeschön. Denn Groß-Bieberau springt für die SG Wallau/Massenheim beim Sparkassencup (10. bis 12. August) ein.

    Die Tore für Groß-Bieberau: Ober (6), Scholz (6/5), Baltic (4), Beckmann (3), Gunst (2), Seeger (2), Bauer (2) und Stallmann.

    ich weiß jnicht, wieviel etat metz so hatte, aber 1,4k sind schon eine ganze mege geld. gab's da vorher keine lizensierung?

    so endgültzig ist der lizenzentzug wohl noch nicht. in uns gut bekannter tradition kann metz wohl 'nachbessern'.

    2005 Women's Junior World Championship in CZE - State of affairs in the preliminaries

    After three matchdays being completed in the Women’s Junior WC in CZE you may make out general tendencies in the four preliminary round groups in the Czech Republic.

    Group A played in Zlín saw favourites DEN earning a narrow but critical victory (19:17) over FRA in their opening match followed by a trouble-free win over BRA (46:25) that makes them comfortable to qualify for the main round already at this stage. NOR and FRA present themselves in a similar shape, however FRA came off as winner (20:19) when they met on matchday 2. BRA and LTU that had to suffer two defeats each would have to struggle hard to still make through to the main round.

    The Russian team, one contender for the WC title, reaped wins against ESP (30:25) and ANG (31:16) in Zlín to take the top rank in group B so far. CRO secured two victories against non-Europeans CHN (33:27) and ANG (36:29) which had to try hard to keep their chance for a place in the main round.

    Games in group C staged at the Brno Sports Hall have been marked by a fast-paced and attracted play of the Korean girls who won against UKR (32:18) and SWE (35:20). Yet, the Polish team too surprised by consequently seizing their scoring chances in their matches against ARG (32:19) and SWE (34:27). Nevertheless it was ARG providing the tournament’s big surprise so far when seeing off the Ukrainian team 19:18.

    The Hungarian team did not challenge their favourite position in group D pocketing a 28:26 win against TUN and an even clearer 42:24 one against the Japanese team. Host CZE’s hopes for a clutching debut were slightly damped down after their close defeat to Serbia-Montenegro partially due to a certain kind of nervousness as the host. TUN and JPN suffering from two defeats each might have difficulties to catch up again.

    na ja - einige aspekte sind sicherlich nicht ganz undenkbar.

    zum einen ist die reise nach trier von hessen aus eine enorme anstrengung. im spielbetrieb der regio 'hessen & gäste' macht das einiges aus.

    trier und regio - die antwort liegt für mich auf der hand. trier versucht seit einiger zeit im nachwuchsbereich einen fuß auf den boden zu bekommen. elena veretchako als quasi-hauptamtliche trainerin sowie die immer noch aktuellen überlegungen, in trier den 'stützpunkt' der arge rheinland-pfalz (des - losen - zusammenschlusses der lv pfalz, rheinhessen und rheinland) entstehen zu lassen, sind signale in diese richtung. wenn tatsächlich einige ambitionierte und fähige spielerinnen in trier zu gange sind, dann reicht die ol des hv rheinland kurz- und mittelfristig nicht aus, um diesen spielerinnen echte herausforderuingen zu bieten. sicher gibt es auch in der ol einige teams, die über qualität verfügen - aber genauso sicher 'wurschteln' dort auch blanke spaß- und freizeitteams herum, die keiner ambitionierten nachwuchsspielerin eine sinnvolle aufgabe bieten. wenn also - und das ist in trier genauso wie anderswo - der verein jugendlichen talenten ein angebot macht, dann muß dieses für a-jugendliche eine spielmöglichkeit in der cregio beinhalten. (hallo dhb-vorgabe).

    und - unterschätze nicht die möglichkeiten in dieser klasse die klasse zu halten. wenn trier (ausländische) 'semi-profis' holen wollte, hättest du recht. aber das ist wohl nicht plan der 'miezen'.

    ansonsten ist der swhv der verband der betonköpfe. und da ein vorwärtskommen zu erreichen, erscheint mir sehr schwer. (das ist - achtung - meine eigene unwesentliche meinung).
