There is a growing backing and interest of Gudjon Valur to take over from Snorri when he leaves the Iceland job. Dagur Sigurdsson is still sulking after being snubbed in 2023 and will most likely not be interested. One variable could happen though, Aron Palmarsson - who is now the head coach of FH Hafnarfjordur, could be a candidate if he is successful. But the smart money is on Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson.
Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson will continue at Gummersbach until 2031 when he will take on the Iceland role.

That's how it is. I watched the match we lost against Germany and it obvious you have a lot of incredible talent coming through. Its really incredible that this current U18 Iceland team has played 25 official games through the U16 to U18 and won 22 of them. The only 3 losses have come against Germany. Which confirms that you are indeed the best team.
Of course Germany should be in any final - the cradle of handball - crazy. Stumble into the quarters and then just shift to the next gear and silent the opponent. Respect. Hope you win it.

And I dont know why Germany should be worried - they have a good hold on this Iceland team. This current Iceland team has played 20 internationals together for U16, U17 and U18 and only lost twice. Both times against Germany

Hi, Icelandic handball fan here. We are pretty annoyed by the fact the we are to be facing Germany at this stage, we wanted an easier route but you we take it. It will be a fun and interesting game. Despite Germany having a disappointing tournament by their standards, I see this as a 50:50. Watch out for Gunnar Robertsson, Narfi Arndal, Freyr Aronsson, Omar Darri Sigurgeirsson and Alex Unnar Hallgrimsson. They are quite good 
Very professional call from a player his age, how do you rate this decision? In my mind, it occurs Sindrason going a bit under the radar. Everyone talking about Roganovic.
I think this is a sensible decision from the player's perspective. He is very focused and desperate to succeed. I think Gummersbach supporters will be somewhat surprised by Sindrason's ability and strength, already this season.
Gardar Ingi Sindrason sacrifices next month's U20 European Championship to focus on Gummersbach. "I've been struggling with my knee and shoulder since the finals (in May) and I want to recover 100% in order before I move out. This is the hardest decision I've had to make in my career, as it's always a great honor to play for Iceland. I believe it's best for me to get 100% in shape and arrive ready for Germany as I have a really challenging task ahead of me there and not arrive too late for my first preparation period in Germany."
Sindrason's decision is a blow for Iceland as he is regarded as the team's best and most important player.
Are you sure that Elvar Örn Jónsson is joining the Lions as early as the summer of 2026?
Apparently yes - guess it will be announced after the season. Haukur is a big reason but also the promise of more minutes in attack than he is getting at Magdeburg. Löwen sees so much potential in Elvar in are hoping to replicate the impact of Haukur this season. For the national team Elvar is number one at left back, with Haukur his understudy. But it's been changing following Elvars lack of attack at Magdeburg - he is desperate to keep the starting spot for the national team also.
And also one of the big reasons Haukur wasnt tempted by the huge clubs after him now - is because he has been told Elvar is coming this summer.
I also think Gunnar Robertsson (17) would be a great fit for Löwen. His father used to play for this club. One of the best in the world in his age group.

Any truth in the rumour (here in Iceland) that Blær Hinriksson could be on his way to Gummersbach. Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson would like to add him to the team. Apparently Hinriksson will not stay at Leipzig beyond this season.
Vranjes attended the semi-finals of the final 4 in the Icelandic cup last Thursday. Stealing the supertalent Narfi Arndal from under the noses of Barcelona or just enjoying the Icelandic sun??? Arndal played a few minutes in the first game of the day.
