2006 Women's European Championship Play-Off
The last weekend of May and the first weekend of June will see the 2006 Women's European Championship Play-Off matches. Altogether 16 teams will participate in the final tournament of the 2006 Women's European Championship in Sweden.
Norway (defending champion), Denmark, Hungary, Russia, Germany (ranked 2 to 5 at the EURO 2004 in Hungary) and the organiser Sweden - altogether 6 teams – are already qualified directly for the Final Tournament in Sweden.
The remaining ten places will be decided via the following play-off matches:
Iceland (ISL) vs. Fyro Macedonia (MKD)
Croatia (CRO) vs. Portugal (POR)
France (FRA) vs. Turkey (TUR)
Slovenia (SLO) vs. Bulgaria (BUL)
Lithuania (LTU) vs. Poland (POL)
Ukraine (UKR) vs. Slovakia (SVK)
Austria (AUT) vs. Italy (ITA)
Netherlands (NED) vs. Belarus (BLR)
Romania (ROM) vs. Serbia Montenegro (SCG)
Spain (ESP) vs. Czech Republic (CZE)

3/4 June (2nd leg)
The 2006 Women's European Championship will take place from 7 to 17 December 2006 in Sweden.
